Kim Southwick

Originally from Westport, Connecticut, Kim first visited Jamaica Plain almost 30 years ago. Upon waking up after her first night of the visit she discovered her car had been stolen. Despite this inauspicious intro, she moved here one year later and has called JP home ever since! When she isn’t enjoying a bike ride on the SW Corridor or walking her dog Barney through the Arboretum, you can find her making all sorts of delicious candies, caramels, and fudge.

Why she loves her neighborhood: The Bourne area of Jamaica Plain offers everything we wanted when we first came to Boston almost 30 years ago; affordability, accessibility, diversity and green space. Our home is between Forest Hills Cemetery and The Arnold Arboretum, it’s half a mile to the T station and the Southwest Corridor Bike Path and is a diverse community with a deep connection to the arts.

Favorite local pizza: Same Old Place. (They make amazing pita bread too!)

Favorite place for a walk: Forest Hills Cemetery

Favorite ice cream flavor: Cappuccino Crunch at JP Licks

Secret talent: I’m a licensed Pedicab driver.

Why she's in real estate: After a career working downtown in the financial district, the idea of working closer to home and in my community was too appealing to pass up.  I stepped away from the corporate world and I couldn’t be happier. The timing was finally right!
